As you know, The Mommies started their friendship as well as their careers in the small farm town of Petaluma, California where they were neighbors. They are as "regular-people" as you, and your next door neighbor. Well, sort of. A few things set them apart. One is their sense of humor and another is their belief that anyone can achieve anything they want if they keep at it. They would like you to know that if they can do it, anyone can. And fifty-three-year-old Marilyn adds, "It's never too late to start!"
Once they decided to become performers and create shows, they made a GOAL BOOK. That is, they listed all the things they wanted to achieve and then proceeded to achieve them. Believe it or not, everything they put in the book came true!
The Mommies are both illustrators, so drawing their goals seemed the easiest way to go about it, but you don't have to have drawing skills to make your own goalbook. The most important thing to remember is to word your goals in a way that you can trick your subconscious into believing that it's happening right now. Keep it in the present with phrases like "I am happy and rich and content," or "I am living in a beautiful house." We often make the mistake of putting our goals into the future as in, "I will live in a beautiful house". When our subconscious hears that kind of phrasing it thinks we mean "someday . . . who knows when. . . I will have a beautiful house."
The more descriptive you can be, the better it is. Be sure to add feeling-phrases like, "I'm feeling content and grateful," and "I feel relaxed and joyful," or "Living in this wonderful house is so much fun." For some reason, putting your goals on paper, that is, out into the physical world, makes them happen. We then tend to make decisions, both conscious and unconscious, with the goal in mind. And . . . you can never have too many goals.
The Mommies always finish off their page with this phrase from one of their favorite self-help gurus, Mark Victor Hansen: "This or something better is manifesting itself for the good of all concerned."
If you start right now, by the year 2005, you will have seen many pages come true.
